Who needs furniture?

Ben and I can not wait for our new furniture to come in. Cooper, however, is loving that we have no furniture. He has plenty of room to play ball and ride around on his kickboard. Tonight, he wanted to watch TV in the keeping room and was very happy to lay on the bare floor. He must not have minded because he stayed there for a good while before falling asleep.

Kyleigh's First Tooth

Kyleigh's first tooth started to come in on Sunday. And today her second tooth started to come in. A proud moment for a mom that deals with teeth all day long!! I can't wait until they are in enough to get a picture of them when she smiles. I have tried but she covers them with her tongue.

Michael and Shannon's Engagement Party

We hosted our first big event at our new house: An Engagement Party for Michael and Shannon. We had a "South Louisiana" theme: Boudin Balls, Crab Cakes, Shrimp & Crawfish Pasta, Red Beans & Rice, BBQ Shrimp, Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding, Chocolate Covered Strawberries and Pat O'Briens Hurricanes. We had our friends Jocelyn and Mike, who own Big Mike's Bar and Grill, cater the food and it was so yummy! The party was great motivation to get our house as ready as it could be. We still didn't have furniture but we made do with some rented tables and chairs.

Cooper School Easter Party

Cooper's Easter Party was originally going to be an all day event. So, I didn't stress about being there. Then 2 days before the party, they posted a time for his class egg hunt. I was already scheduled to work and couldn't rearrange patients. I had Annette, my office manager, drop off some snacks for their lunch and asked her to be "Cooper's Mommy" for the egg hunt. 6 months old

Kyleigh had her 6 month checkup today. She is weighing 15 pounds, 3 ounces, which is at the 50th percentile. She is 26.5 inches tall, which is at the 75th percentile. Hopefully that will continue and she will have her daddy's height. She is eating cereal and veggies, about to start some fruit. She is usually all smiles, just fusses when she is sleepy or hungry. She has found her feet and loves to put them in her mouth, which can make diaper changing rather challenging. Her hair is starting to stick up everywhere, just like Cooper's did at this age. Here are some pics of her at Misti's bridal shower last weekend.

34th Birthday Weekend

Ben was so sweet and planned a night out for my birthday. He told me to be ready on Friday night at 6:30. He had arranged for Megan to babysit and keep our plans secret until on the way there. He took me to dinner at The Little Village in downtown Baton Rouge. It is somewhere we have always heard about but never tried. It was worth the wait. Excellent choice! After dinner, we decided to head to Best Buy to shop for a TV for the keeping room. Pretty sad but much easier to do this type of thing without the kids. We were out of there with a TV in less than 30 minutes! That would have never happened if both kids were with us. Not wanting our night to end, Ben talked me into going to a new Bar and Grill that our friends opened at the beginning of the month. I said Okay, one drink, lots to do tomorrow. We had a great time visiting with Mike and J. So great in fact, that 3 hours and several drinks later, we finally made it home. Saturday, we had a crawfish boil at Nana and PawPaw's house with Michael, Shannon, Aunt Linda and Uncle Glen. The crawfish were awesome and the Tiramisu was yummy! Really not sure what is going on here but too funny not to post...
Intended to get some pics of the final product but it was so late by the time we starting eating, I forgot. Hope that is not a result of my new age!..

Career Expo at Library

I was invited to speak at a Career Expo at our local Library. I ususally speak at 1-2 of these events per year. I love being able to present and answer questions about a career that is so awesome.
