Happy Father's Day: Ohama Bound

Saturday morning while Ben and I were being lazy laying in bed watching golf, I asked him if he wanted his Father's Day present early. Of course, his ears perked up. I needed to tell him what I was thinking so we could start making all the arrangements. I told him Cooper and I were giving him a trip to see the Tigers play in the College World Series. He was shocked and so excited! This has always been something he wanted to do. Although we hope the Tigers make it back to Omaha on multiple occasions, never really know for sure if they will. There wasn't any way I could go with him (patients already scheduled, too far for me to ride in car and don't think my doctor would let me fly) but I didn't want him to miss it. Michael was home from offshore and available. I called Dad and asked if he wanted an early Father's Day present as well. He was able to reschedule his driver's ed students. I borrowed Aimee's laptop (forgot mine at home) and was actually able to find them a hotel 7 miles from the stadium and tickets to Game 1 and 2 online. So, they were set for a boys trip!! We came home from New Orleans early this morning so they could get packed and get on the road. Shannon made them posters to hold up at the game so we will be looking for them on TV. They are sitting 3rd base side between 3rd base and leftfield for Game 1. Game 2, which will be our 9 year anniversay, they will be sitting 1st base side next to right field. Dad and Ben drove to Lafayette to pick up Michael. Leaving for the 15 hour ride...

LSU Alumni in NOLA

This weekend Ben and I went to New Orleans for my annual LSU Orthodontic Alumni meeting. It is always the third weekend of June, which is usually right around our anniversary. This was my 5 year reunion. It is a great chance to catch up with all our ortho friends that we rarely see. Friday night we attended a cocktail party at Muriel's in the French Quarter. Saturday we had room service deliver breakfast and stayed in bed for most of the morning. Definitely a treat! We enjoyed lunch at Palace Cafe on Canal Street and did some shopping at Canal Place. Saturday night, we attended the black tie banquet at our hotel, the Ritz-Carlton. Fun times with great friends!!!Me, Nannette, Meredith and Aimee... Same group...

Where is Cooper?

Cooper wanted to watch Imagination Movers recorded on the DVR in our bedroom since Ben and I were watching the College World Series (Arkansas/Virginia game) in the living room. We noticed that he was very quiet. When Ben went to check on him, this is what he found...

Sound asleep in all the pillows...

First T-Ball Game

Cooper had his first T-Ball game last night. They were so cute! I am not sure what his team learned at their practices, but every time the ball was hit it seemed every kid, whatever their position, ran toward the ball. Except Cooper; he just stood there looking at them like "what are you doing?" That was fine, we thought maybe he is just being smart by staying in his position, but he just stood there when the ball was hit to him as well. Not really sure he could have gotten to it anyway, as it was like ducks flocking to bread thrown out, sometimes the kids were even tackling each other. Needless to say, it was chaos at times. Cooper was pretty passive when we started soccer but got more aggressive with time. We shall see how the season progresses. I do know that he loved it!!! This morning when he woke up he asked me "Are we going to T-ball today?" He was ready for another game. The only thing he didn't understand or like was that there wasn't a "real" catcher! Cooper and Carson...
Cooper playing pitcher. Have to say that my heart skipped a beat or two worrying that he would get a line drive to the face...

T-ball is starting!!

Yesterday, while I was laid up on the couch all day, Ben took Cooper to finish getting his things needed for T-ball. He really only needed cleats (had helmet and bat already) but came home with cleats, 3 bats, Under Armour undershirt and 2 bags of Big League Chew Gum. As soon as they got home, Cooper had to put everything on and go outside to practice. He did need to try out the bats so he could see which one he was going to keep. It is awesome but hard to see my little guy growing up so much. He looks so handsome in his gear. We are all so excited that his T-ball season starts tomorrow. He missed both practices while we were on vacation so we shall see what happens in the first game.

23 week Ultrasound

Today Ben and I went for an unexpected ultrasound. I had some bleeding this weekend when we got home from Destin. We called the emergency number and the on call nurse had me stay in the bed for the rest of weekend to make sure I did not continue bleeding and was not leaking fluid. I called Dr. Futayyeh first thing this morning and she wanted me to have an ultrasound. Low amniotic fluid was the reason I was induced with Cooper 6 weeks early. So, we got to see our baby girl today and are very happy to report that everything is okay. Amniotic fluid levels were within the normal range but on the low side of normal. Kyleigh's measurements were all around 23-24 weeks so she is still right on target with her growth. They estimated her weight at 1 pound, 10 ounces, which was at the 52nd percentile. So, she has gained about a pound since our last ultrasound. I would have swore that she had turned due to how much I feel her move. But nope, she is still breech. She also didn't want to cooperate and let the ultrasound tech confirm that she is indeed a girl. Her daddy made the comment "Not cooperating, must be a woman" but we will let that slide. So grateful and relieved for the good news!! She was still looking straight at us, could not get a profile shot of her this time either... Her legs, crossed at her ankles...

Destin Part 4

Our last night in Destin we went to eat at the Crab Trap Restaurant located gulf side. While waiting for our table, we decided to head down to the beach to take some portraits.
Having a contest at my office "Where in the world did your toothbrush go this summer?" for all of our patients. Shannon now has braces, although you can't really see them. So, she had to get a picture with her toothbrush to enter...
We had to get our toothbrush pic as well...
Uncle Glen helping Cooper with his writing. Love these pics...Our whole crew... Cooper wanted to play on the beach with his bucket and shovel after dinner...
After dinner, Michael, Shannon, Ben, Cooper and I headed to the souvenir shop to get a present made for Adam. We learned this week that Adam can not shuffle cards because he said his thumbs don't work. He would let Megan shuffle and deal when it was his game. We wanted to get him something to remember all the good times had at the poker table. Megan reading the shirt...
Showing off his "Thumbs" shirt...
Last pic of our trip. Going home...

What an awesome trip with a great group! We all had so much fun and are planning to make it an annual event. Family and Fun is truly what life is all about. Great memories that will last a lifetime!!!
