First Day of Kindergarten

Cooper woke up on his own this morning because he was so excited about Kindergarten. He has been talking about and looking forward to this day all summer. We got dressed and he decided to skip breakfast. Too excited and there was no forcing him to eat. We went to the Montessori school so he could catch the bus. He has to ride the same bus in the morning as he will in the afternoon. The "bus" is all I have heard about for the last few weeks. I asked him if I could drive him to school and I got a big fat NO! I think he was more excited about riding the bus than going to Disney World. Today was the Boys Day for Kindergarten. The girls will go on Friday then they all go together starting Monday. Waiting for the bus...
He sees it...
Headed to the bus...
So ready...
Almost...
Finally here...Notice the kid in the window :) ...
Love that smile, you think he is happy?..
Baby girl watching it all from her car seat...
I did good, no crying...that is until Ben called a little later to ask me how it went. It was then the tears started flowing. Guess I realized I had just put my child on a bus with a stranger and she was responsible for getting him to school, where he would stay all day, then she would be responsible for getting him back to aftercare safely. The funny thing is he was on the bus for all of 5 minutes this morning. The Montessori school is the last stop and less than a mile from his elementary.
He LOVED school. I asked him all about his day, about lunch, about his teacher. All his answers were pretty vague but he was still beaming about, you know it, THE BUS.

The Night Before Kindergarten

Reading "Froggy goes to School" before the big day. Cooper's favorite part was when Froggy hurried to get on the bus and realized that he was in his underpants...then Froggy woke up, it was all a dream. We laughed and laughed, which meant I had to keep reading it!

Can't believe my baby is going to school tomorrow!

Starbucks, Shopping and Swimming

Today, Cooper and I headed to Starbucks for breakfast He LOVES coffee so we went inside to enjoy it from "real" cups. Having his coffee and my muffin as he didn't like the brownie he picked out...
Fun times, he loves to take his sandals off...
After breakfast, we did some marathon shopping for things for our house, including lots of sports items for his room. Cooper kept saying "Is this the last store?" We shopped until we had to go home because there wasn't any more room in the Yukon. We picked Kyleigh up and decided to head to the pool for some swimming. Long day but loved every minute of it with the kiddos!

Meeting His Teacher

Cooper and I have the whole week together. The new preK class has started at his old school and Kindergarten doesn't officially start until August 16th. So, I took this week off to be with him. Our last chance to play hookey!

Today, Cooper went to school to meet his teacher for screening/testing. He has been so excited about going to Big Boy School. He did get mad when I told him he would only be able to stay for 30 minutes today. He wanted to stay all day and ride the school bus. Just a few more days until Boy Day! His school...
Outside school...
With his booksack...
In his classroom...
With his teacher, Mrs. Mitchell...
After leaving school, we headed to eat breakfast at our favorite, McDonalds then went to the Mall for some shopping and playing.
Playing on the iPhone 4 at the Apple Store...

Frozen Peas Anyone?

I hadn't planned to blog about Ben's "Procedure" but he is so funny on Valium that I can't help myself. I didn't know that I would be able to be in the room during the procedure but the nurse came to get me after everything was all set up. 2 quotes that require remembering:
  1. As the cauterization is taking place, Ben asks: "Who's smoking in here?" We all laugh and Dr. Vick says "Well, actually you are!"

  2. As Dr. Vick is suturing, Ben asks him: "You knitting something?" Again, laughs and Dr. Vick answers "Yeah, I'll have a sweater for you in a minute."

Too funny. But in all seriousness, Ben is doing well. He loved the excuse of laying in bed all weekend. I did find out that frozen peas are good for something else... Teething...She loved them.
